Vehicle Tracking & Telematics
BLS will utilize the VMT units and system for some of the following purposes:
The unit, with its certificated measured distancing, will be used as the main source for monthly kilometre usage.
- Managing driver behaviour with specific emphasis on:
- Harsh acceleration, braking, cornering, over-speeding as well as harsh bumps and excessive idling.
- Driver behaviour analysis
- Over revving and engine monitoring
- Fuel consumption (CANBus dependant)
- Utilization reports will be used to maximize the fleet mix and optimization of the fleet, by identifying under and over-utilized vehicles of the same category and enabling a system whereby these vehicles may be exchanged with one another.
This ensures optimal vehicles utilization and capacity. - Reporting and identifying vehicles and drivers with regards to all after hour utilization of vehicles, including weekend usage.
- Driver identification which will be compulsory on vehicles, with each driver being issued a unique driver identification tag, that allows him,/her to start their designated vehicles. A started interrupt will be fitted to the vehicles which ensures that the vehicle will not start if the driver tag is inserted by a driver not allocated to a particular vehicle.
- The system will be used to create locations for user depots as well as no-go zones which in turn will provide detailed reports on all vehicle activities to and from these areas as well as time spent at these areas.
