Contract Management

BLS will allocate a dedicated and experienced Accounts Executive whose role will primarily be the day-to-day management of the Fleet / Operations including engaging with key stakeholders in the value chain. This will enable both BLS and its customers to pro-actively manage the number of deliverables throughout the contract.

Throughout the duration of the contract, BLS continuously through effective VMT (Vehicles Management Technology) systems, monitors fleet utilization, optimization and performance.

The following key factors could be identified:

  • Vehicle replacement due to age or kilometres
  • Individual vehicle utilization to determine whether routes may be swopped to
    optimize utilization
  • Restructuring of contracts to align contract and actual usage to avoid excess costs
  • Contract extensions where there is economical life left
  • Problematic vehicles – continuous breakdowns resulting in reduced availability and excessive costs.
  • Identifying ‘second life’ opportunities – high mileage vehicles with accessories / assets that may be refurbished and utilized on new/replacement vehicles.
  • Developing vehicle replacement forecasts that assist in determining optimal replacement points which will enable proactive ordering of vehicles to ensure stock availability
Measuring overall life cycle cents per kilometer costs based on industry benchmarks in order to achieve BLS’s objective of reducing its customer’s operating costs.
